Guess what, guys? I have a new favorite Andaz!
The Andaz Bali might even be my favorite hotel, period.
Everything about our stay here was basically magical. The grounds? Stunning. The vibe? So chill, so relaxed. The food? Amazing. The service? Outstanding. The location? Could not be better.
If you’ve ever dreamed about going to Bali and want a luxurious, relaxing experience in a convenient location that’s easy to explore the island from—but also not too far-removed from restaurants and shops—this is the place.
My husband and I agreed with each other within minutes of checking into our room that we were definitely coming back to the Andaz Bali as soon as we could, and after checking out four days later, we feel even more strongly about that. It’s a literal dream stay. So let’s dive into why!
Room: The standard king room was gorgeous and felt huge and luxurious. I have no idea what the premium rooms look like, but if they’re even better than the standard rooms, they’ve got to be a treat.

The kids’ room was the same as ours, right next door, except theirs had two twin beds.

Our rooms were serviced daily, and impeccably. I was extremely satisfied with cleanliness and attention to detail, which are two things I really value.
Hotel & amenities:
The Andaz Bali shares one giant campus with the Hyatt Regency Bali, though the two hotels’ grounds are separated by a wall down the middle. There’s a connecting path (you can see that on the bottom-right of this picture of the paper map you receive at check-in) so you can go back and forth between the properties to try each hotel’s different restaurants. Guests from both hotels also share the spa amenities. But the pools on each property are for guests of that property only.

The Andaz Bali is situated right on the beach and abuts a paved beachside walking path that’s perfect for relaxing walks to beachside restaurants, spas, and shops. The hotel has shaded lounge chairs available to guests and there are facilities to rinse sand off as you walk back onto the hotel property.

If you’re not into sand, there are three pools that are open to all the Andaz guests: the main pool (pictured here), the quiet pool (which we looked over from our balcony), and a kids’ pool. We were able to order food and drinks poolside through a QR code, which was a great treat.
There are also a few villas on the property that have their own private pools or lagoons, which would be amazing.

There’s also a kids’ club at the Andaz Bali, so if you have kids ages 4 to 12, they can take part in kids’ activities for up to two hours per day at no charge.
Food/drink:
I want to preface what I’m about to say with the background information that I’m not the kind of person who usually eats any meals at a hotel. Breakfast, maybe, if it’s included, or if we’re pressed for time and need something convenient. And if you want to call me a food snob, that’s okay; you’re not wrong! But usually no matter where we are, exploring the local restaurants is our primary objective, and we’re usually kind of skeptical of the quality of hotel-restaurant food, just generally. I’m sure a lot of it is probably better than I think, but I mean, how many of us go eat in hotel restaurants in our hometowns? We don’t usually eat in hotel restaurants in our hometown, so why would we do that when we travel?
All that is a roundabout way of saying this: I’m not usually someone who’s enthusiastic about hotel restaurants, with the exception of one I can think of off the top of my head.
But I may have to rethink that.
The food at the Andaz Bali was wonderful.

We ate several meals at the different restaurants on the property, and had breakfast there every morning, and literally everything we ate was great. Southeast Asian luxury hotel breakfasts are one of my favorite things in the world, and the Andaz is definitely one of my top three of all time.
And the really cool thing about the breakfasts there is that there’s an extensive menu to choose from and the waitstaff bring you your meals, but it’s also basically a buffet because they’ll keep asking what else you want and bring you anything. And it’s all included in the “buffet” breakfast price. So it’s a buffet but with table service, and you never have to get up or scoop things out of a big chafing dish. Perfection.

Another outstanding amenity at the Andaz Bali is the complimentary all-day outdoor tea and coffee lounge. Any time I wanted, I could ask for a latte or cup of tea, and there were always fresh cold drinks, as well. There were chess boards set up at some of the tables, and it was just a really relaxing place to sit and enjoy life for a little while.

If you’re wondering about whether the water or ice are safe to drink at the Andaz, I can tell you that most nice hotels in Bali have industrially produced filtered ice delivered so that it’s ok for their guests to use in drinks, and we ate and drank everything we were served (and brushed our teeth with bottled water) and we were all completely fine—even the ones who might sometimes have sensitive stomachs. I’m always curious about how seriously people should follow guidelines about what to eat and drink in countries where tap water isn’t recommended for drinking and whether that goes for the really fancy hotels, too, and if you also wonder about that, then I hope that was helpful.
Parking/location/transportation:
The Andaz Bali is located in Sanur, right on the ocean, and not very far from the main airport (DPS). We arranged to be picked up at the airport through the hotel and it cost about $25 and took around 30-40 minutes.

We found the hotel’s location to be perfect for our needs during our stay—we mainly wanted to relax, as this was a much-needed “vacation” stop during our whirlwind round-the-world trip. But we were also able to walk into the town of Sanur several times for gelato breaks, a spa-treatment afternoon, and souvenir shopping. It’s so convenient to be able to walk to things off the hotel grounds!

We had arranged for a driver to take us to a few places on the island that we wanted to see during our stay, and the locations we had in mind were all in the central part of Bali, so the Andaz’s location worked out well. But if you have more remote sightseeing in mind, you might want to consider a different property closer to the outreaches of the island instead.
My take:
The Andaz Bali hit all my sweet spots. Fancy, but not too fancy. Modern and sleek in design, but warm and welcoming. Quiet, but also cheerful and perfect for families. I had absolutely no complaints and wholeheartedly recommend it. And I cannot wait to go back.
